I really gravitate to the haircut you gave your vampi. Her outfit is sporty and the golden piping gives it a bit of sophistication.
i think the reason you like it better without the bg, is that its off center... or its floating in space and not really a background... what i mean is that these problems come from not drawing the feet. (i hope you dont mind i made a diagram explaining what i mean) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v180/motomechanica/Vampirella_RVicens_02copy.jpg i always have problems with drawing backgrounds when i cant see the feet because you have nowhere to reference where anything goes.
this is all assuming that the bg was an actual architectural object and not a graphic element. and if it was a graphic element then i think it would look better centered on the figure.
Thanks for the great feedback. I did it more of an experiment as a graphic tool. Even with that said, I still get what you mean. I will definitely keep that in mind for my next one. Thanks again, the feedback is useful.
After looking at the image a couple more times, the more I wanted to remove the background. Here it is on white.
