Welcome

Thanks for stopping by "Draw It Up!" I just wanted to post an introduction that explains the purpose of this blog.

A little history first. This whole idea came to light after Victor (see the side bar for contributers) and I figured out that we shared the same love for drawing and illustration. We both had a common goal...get better at doing it! Soon after kick starting this conversion, Nook (a coworker and awesome artist) started showing the same enthusiasm. Last to join the voyage was Vincent. Victor came to me one day after we started planning out our mission and said his friend Vincent was great and would love to join in on the gameplan. Four artist with a common goal.

So what's the gameplan? Well it's pretty simple. We were highly inspired by 3 basic sites:
1. http://www.conceptart.org/
2. http://drawforce.blogspot.com/ and
3. http://www.drawergeeks.com/

With those three sources of inspiration, we came up with a two part plan. The first part involves doing studies of primarily Andrew Loomis' and George Bridgeman's work. The second part involves (the best part) of actually doing our own illustrations. The topic will be chosen by the group. Every 3 weeks or so, we post our finished illustration. Pretty simple. We all want to improve, so the best way to do that is just to practice. The blog became easiest way to share with one another as well as document our process.

In the end, the number one priority is to have fun with this all. We are all working artist and this is more to let loose doing what we love.

That being said. First assignment is sort of a warm up with a character we all know and love... Superman! Time to draw it up!
